When the greatest rock anthems of all time meet the impressive sound of an entire symphony orchestra, it can only mean one thing: The legendary show "Rock Meets Classic" is back in town. For over a decade, the crossover spectacle has thrilled rock and classical music fans alike. Instead of instrumental mash-ups, the "Rock Meets Classic" tour focuses on real genre greats like Alice Cooper or Ian Gillan of Deep Purple: goosebumps guaranteed!
When the completely sold-out "Rock Meets Classic" tour toured 30 German cities for the first time in 1993, no one suspected that it would be almost two decades before the reunion. As is so often the case in life, it takes a second attempt before the brilliant idea really takes off. Since 2010, producer, songwriter and musician Mat Sinner has been responsible for this exceptional project with a prominent cast. As the creative mastermind, he creates the basis for the fusion of rock and classical music.
Together with a symphony orchestra put together especially for the show, Sinner's self-titled band prepares the sound carpet for atmospheric live experiences under the sign of rock 'n' roll. Around 100 creative people on and behind the stage ensure that stars like Gianna Nannini and Midge Ure can shine with their newly arranged hits. "Rock Meets Classic" is a tribute to the passion for music beyond all genre boundaries.
Unique live experience
The idea of mixing well-known rock songs with the sounds of classical musical instruments may not be new. Nevertheless, "Rock Meets Classic" presents itself as a recurring event series with an individual character. With heart and soul and musical know-how, Matt Sinner succeeds in forming a harmonious unity out of the heroes of rock history and passionate symphonic musicians. Spectacular light and pyro effects underline the bombastic flair.
The show is innovative and surprisingly different, if only because of its annually changing line-up. While some artists are new to the "Rock Meets Classic" family, others return after acclaimed performances on previous tours. Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan and Europe singer Joey Tempest, for example, are among the acts who have graced the show for several consecutive years or after a few years' absence.
In any case, anyone who buys tickets for "Rock Meets Classic" can look forward to a real fireworks display of world-famous rock numbers. Songs like the following will make the hearts of fans beat faster:
- "The Final Countdown" - Europe
- "I Wanna Rock" - Twisted Sister
- "Moonlight Shadow" - Mike Oldfield
- "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" - Rainbow
- "Smoke On The Water" - Deep Purple
- "The Boys Are Back In Town" - Thin Lizzy
- "School's Out" - Alice Cooper
.
With handmade music from all decades, the approximately three-hour live experience offers plenty of opportunity to sing along, dance and celebrate. Relive the good old days of the glamorous rock era and immerse yourself in a long-lost attitude to life together with the most dazzling stars of the scene: That is the idea behind the super event "Rock Meets Classic".
