Texas (UK)
30th Anniversary of *White on Blonde* + the hits
“White on Blonde” catapulted Texas to superstardom. Released in February 1997, the Scottish band’s fourth album debuted at number one on the UK charts, spawned five Top 10 singles, and sold more than four million physical copies worldwide. To mark its 30th anniversary, Texas is celebrating this groundbreaking album with a reissue, the new song “Another Way To Cry,” and an anniversary tour. At a time when Britpop, with its masculine self-image, set the tone, the band led by Sharleen Spiteri and Johnny McElhone followed their own musical vision. They blended soul, trip-hop, and pop melodies. Hits like “Say What You Want,” “Halo,” and “Black Eyed Boy” are timelessly beautiful.

Just how vibrant these songs remain was proven by their acclaimed performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2023. Despite competition from acts like the Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys, Texas won over a massive festival crowd. This was followed by a British arena tour featuring the largest concerts of their career to date as the headlining act.

Four decades after their formation and on the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking album, Texas combine a look back with new energy. “At first I thought: If I can write a single song that outlasts me, I’ll be happy,” says Spiteri. “We’ve written quite a few of those by now. But it’s not over yet. There’s still a part of this story to tell, and that’s exciting.”
