The musician Daniel Wirtz, who comes from Frankfurt am Main, resolutely takes the first steps in his music career at a young age. He founded his first band at 15 and began honing his skills as a musician and lyricist - today he is one of Germany's most distinguished singers, guitarists and songwriters.
WIRTZ took a big step into the public eye in 1999 as the singer of the alternative band Sub7even, with whom he landed the chart success "Weatherman" in 2000. But at some point this is no longer enough for him. He wants to perform in his mother tongue and separates from his band.
A first test run already proves promising: In 2007 WIRTZ presents three of his self-composed and sung titles on MySpace. More than a million clicks show him that he is on the right track.
His musical signature is already clear back then: WIRTZ combines a rocking sound with honest lyrics without many flourishes, but with a lot of feeling for the language and what you can convey with it.
From the festival to the TV studio
Fans who get hold of tickets for WIRTZ's tour with the band New Demon in 2008 experience the artist at intimate club concerts, which also earn him second place in the audience category of the Live Entertainment Awards.
Two albums later WIRTZ makes it to number 5 in the German album charts with the longplayer "Acoustic Vodoo". The artist finally became a star of the alternative rock scene in 2015 when he appeared in the second season of the TV show "Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert" on VOX. His interpretations of songs by other participants are convincing and are voted song of the evening three times.
Tours with Xavier Naidoo and Udo Lindenberg follow the TV appearances. Two years later WIRTZ gets his own show on VOX: "One Night Song - Blind Date im WIRTZ-Haus". Fellow artists such as Andreas Gabalier and Wolfang Niedecken (BAP) visit him there and bring songs with them, which are performed together in the show.
Direct line to the fans
But no matter how famous WIRTZ has become in the meantime: he always remains true to himself and his style. This is true not only musically, but also in his dealings with his fans. He reaches them directly - for example via social networks. His own record label also guarantees him a high degree of independence.
In 2017, WIRTZ celebrates his 10th anniversary with the album "Die fünfte Dimension" (The Fifth Dimension) and then turns once again to a format that he had already used for several years before: Unplugged concerts. With this concept and accompanied only by piano and string quartet, WIRTZ goes on tour. The unique atmosphere of his unplugged performances enthuses him so much that he puts together a second album of this kind a few years later.
His private life is also determined by music - and not only because the artist and family father is constantly tinkering with new songs. He also makes sure that his son grows up surrounded by as much music as possible - WIRTZ lives in Frankfurt with his offspring and his partner.
