FATHOMS DEEP — EUROPEAN RELEASE TOUR 2027
Acclaimed singer, songwriter and song collector Peia returns to Europe in April 2027 for the Fathoms Deep Release Tour, celebrating her first full-length solo album in more than a decade.
Known for a voice that moves effortlessly between the ancient and the immediate, Peia has spent much of the past twelve years gathering and carrying traditional songs across cultures. Her work has long explored the places where music, ancestry and memory meet, breathing new life into old songs that have traveled through generations.
With Fathoms Deep, Peia turns her gaze inward.
The album marks a transition in her songwriting from songs that often speak to the collective condition toward something far more personal and intimate. Written through a period of profound change, Fathoms Deep moves through loss, grief and the nearness of death; through the cathartic process of alchemizing pain into beauty and, ultimately, toward the redemptive force of love.
These are songs born in deep water: songs of surrender and devotion, of what is stripped away and what remains when we are asked to meet life without armor. While Peia's connection to traditional music remains woven throughout the record, Fathoms Deep reveals a more vulnerable and unguarded songwriter, drawing from lived experience with an intimacy rarely heard in her previous work.
Co-produced with Trewin Howard of Phoria, the album places Peia's unmistakable voice within a spacious, cinematic sonic world. Howard brings an atmospheric and textural sensibility to the recordings, weaving organic instrumentation with subtle electronic elements, expansive ambience and finely detailed production. Rather than obscuring the intimacy of the songs, these layers create a landscape around them - at times elemental and otherworldly, at others startlingly close.
The April 2027 European tour will bring Fathoms Deep to the stage alongside songs from across Peia's body of work. Moving between original songwriting and the traditional songs that have shaped her musical life, these concerts offer audiences a journey through grief and beauty, ancestry and belonging, darkness and renewal.
At its heart, Fathoms Deep is a record about what happens when we allow ourselves to descend fully into the depths of the human experience and discover that love is still there.
Short Bio
Songwriter, Storyteller, Keeper of Traditional Songs
Weaving Music, Animism and Cultural Memory into Spaces of Belonging
Based in the mountains of Appalachia, Peia draws from a deep well of Irish and Old World European folk traditions. Her work moves between the ancient and the original, carrying old songs forward while creating new music rooted in place, memory, and connection to the natural world.
Her unmistakable voice has carried her from Child Ballads and 17th-century Irish laments to Scottish waulking songs and Bulgarian mountain calls, traditions she has traveled extensively to study and embody over more than a decade. Yet Peia’s work has never been solely about looking backward. Her work is an exploration of what these old songs can awaken in the present, and how music can give form to our relationship with ancestry, nature, belonging, and one another.
With three studio albums and more than a decade of international touring, Peia has cultivated a dedicated global following.
Her newest body of work, Fathoms Deep, marks a turning inward from songs that speak to the collective condition toward a more intimate landscape of original songwriting, exploring loss, the cathartic process of alchemizing pain into beauty, our relationship with mortality, and ultimately, the redemptive force of love.
