Format
The winner of the Schweizer Cup is determined after six rounds (1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 finals, and the final). All matches are determined by draw. The first main round is drawn on a regional basis. In the first round, clubs from the Swiss Football League do not face each other. In the second round, direct matchups between Super League clubs are prohibited. Otherwise, there are no seeded teams. Through the fifth round, the lower-division team has home-field advantage, which—combined with the fact that Super League clubs cannot face each other in the second round of the Schweizer Cup—is intended to facilitate as many “rural” soccer spectacles as possible between David and Goliath.
