I’ve been a fan from the very beginning—but I’ve never been to a Backstreet Boys concert. I’d really like to change that.
The Backstreet Boys have been a part of my life since the ’90s. I knew their songs, had my favorites, of course, and have followed their career over the years. There’s just one thing missing to this day: I’ve never seen the Backstreet Boys live!
When the Backstreet Boys had their international breakthrough in the mid-’90s, I was part of the generation for whom Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, and Kevin Richardson were suddenly everywhere.
One memory in particular has stuck with me: When “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” came out, I quickly recorded the song in the morning and then listened to it on repeat all day long. Today, it would be available with just one click. It’s crazy how differently we discovered and listened to music back then.
By the time “Millennium” and “I Want It That Way” came out in 1999, there was practically no way to avoid the Backstreet Boys. Still, I never went to one of their concerts. It just didn’t work out back then—and somehow, it never did later on either.
That makes it all the more amazing to me that this opportunity still exists more than 30 years later. The Backstreet Boys are still active as a band and continue to play major concert tours.
Ten concerts were scheduled in Düsseldorf from September 25 to October 7, 2026. More than 400,000 tickets had already been sold before the tour even began. These were the Backstreet Boys’ only European concerts that year.
Their current “Into The Millennium” tour draws on the album that defined their career in the late 1990s. In 2025, an expanded edition titled “Millennium 2.0” was also released, featuring remastered songs, demos, live recordings, and the new track “Hey.”
After Düsseldorf, the band will first head to North America. More concerts are scheduled in Las Vegas for late December 2026 and early January 2027. Twelve shows in Toronto will follow between February 12 and March 7, 2027.
Of course, I wouldn’t try to catch up on a concert from my youth today. But hearing the songs that were constantly playing back then live for the first time, decades later? That would be something special.
“Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” “I Want It That Way,” or “Larger Than Life”—not through headphones, the radio, or Spotify, but actually in front of a stage—after all these years, that would be pretty crazy for me.
Whether this opportunity will ever arise in Switzerland remains to be seen. Currently, no Backstreet Boys concert has been confirmed in Switzerland, and another European tour for 2027 hasn’t been announced yet either.
So that I don’t miss it just when it finally happens, I have a pretty obvious plan: activate the Backstreet Boys ticket alert and wait and see.
Maybe I’ll still get to go to my first BSB concert after all.
