Deep Purple have been shaping hard rock for over five decades. Founded in 1968, the band is one of the genre's most influential formations alongside Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. With their current tour, they are showing that their music has lost none of its relevance in 2026.
Deep Purple's biggest hit «Smoke on the Water» was inspired by an event in Montreux in 1971. The band was recording a new album in Montreux, where the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival was taking place at the same time. That evening, Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention played at the festival. During Frank Zappa's performance, a fire broke out in the casino. The title of the song therefore refers to the smoke that spread over Lake Geneva because of the fire. Some other passages of the song are also said to be based on events of the evening.
In addition to «Smoke on the Water», fans can look forward to more great hits.
