After a break of over six years, Drake is finally coming back to Europe - and will be stopping off at the Hallenstadion Zurich on August 11, 2025. The Canadian superstar's "Some Special Shows 4 EU" tour is his first European tour since 2019 and comes at an exciting time in his career. The 38-year-old is caught between a freshly released collaboration album, plans for new solo work and the echo of one of the biggest rap beefs of recent years.
The return to Europe is more than just an ordinary tour for Drake. After the intense exchange of blows with Kendrick Lamar, which polarized the hip-hop world in 2024, the 38-year-old seems to be making a fresh start. In his new track "Gimme a Hug" from the February album, he signaled the end of the feud with the words "F**k a rap beef, I'm tryna get the party lit". A clear message: Drake wants to be the entertainer again, not the fighter.
The timing of his return to Europe is deliberate. While Kendrick Lamar was still celebrating his Grammy-winning diss track "Not Like Us" at the Super Bowl halftime show, Drake is using the stage as his answer. His "Some Special Shows 4 EU" tour follows the successful "Anita Max Win Tour" in Australia and New Zealand in February 2025.
Drake's latest work "$ome $exy $ongs 4 U", a collaboration with his longtime OVO protégé PARTYNEXTDOOR, went straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Released on Valentine's Day 2025, the album marks his 14th No. 1 success and places him alongside Jay-Z and Taylor Swift. The 21 tracks show Drake in his usual manner: vulnerable in matters of love, self-confident in business and always on the lookout for the perfect hook.
But the Canadian is already working on his next project. In a livestream with Adin Ross in April, he confirmed: "Working on a new album right now... it's a slap". After "For All the Dogs" from 2023, his last solo work, it is to be another "one-on-one conversation" with the fans. Producers such as Metro Boomin, Tyler, The Creator and Madlib are reportedly already involved.
