After 30 years on stage, Oesch’s die Dritten are bringing their career to a deliberate close. With their «Merci Tour», the family band will bid farewell to their audience in 2027 and 2028.
Oesch’s die Dritten have been performing together since the 1990s. The group from the Bernese Oberland consists of Hansueli and Annemarie Oesch, their children Melanie, Kevin, and Mike, and accordionist Urs Meier. Their breakthrough in German-speaking countries came in 2007 with their victory on the «Musikantenstadl» talent show for up-and-coming artists. Melanie Oesch’s distinctive yodeling, in particular, has become the band’s trademark.
Musically, the group has never limited itself exclusively to traditional folk music. With Oesch’s die Dritten, yodeling and the Schwyzerörgeli meet influences from country, blues, folk, and Schlager. With this blend, the band enjoyed numerous successes and embarked on tours that took them far beyond Switzerland’s borders. In 2027, they will celebrate their 30th anniversary on stage. At the same time, Oesch’s die Dritten are entering the final chapter of their band’s history.
The announced «Merci Tour» will in fact be the band’s final tour. After that, the band will no longer exist in its current form and lineup. This farewell tour will take the family band across Switzerland one last time. On May 20, 2028, their journey together will finally come to an end at the Bernexpo—where Oesch’s Die Dritten will draw a deliberate close to their 30-year stage career.
