Mireille Mathieu will return to Zurich in 2027 for a farewell concert. The French singer will perform at Theater 11 on October 13. Her “Goodbye my Love Goodbye” tour will include ten additional concerts. At the age of 80, the chanson icon is bidding farewell to her audience once again.
Her major concert career was actually supposed to come to an end in 2024. But Mireille Mathieu returned to the stage once more in 2026. Now another chapter of her long farewell tour is set to begin. Ten additional concerts will take Mathieu through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The reason for this is the continued high demand.
The tour title “Goodbye my Love Goodbye” thus signifies a long farewell. The Zurich concert is one of the announced additional dates.
Mathieu was born on July 22, 1946, in Avignon. She grew up as the eldest of 14 children. Her musical role model was the French singer Édith Piaf.
In 1965, she made her breakthrough on French television. She subsequently became an internationally renowned chanson singer. Her music blended French traditions with catchy pop melodies.
Songs like “Mon credo” and “La dernière valse” defined her career. Further successes followed in German-speaking countries, including “Akropolis Adieu” and “La Paloma ade.”
For decades, Mireille Mathieu has maintained a distinctive look. Her dark pageboy haircut with straight bangs became her trademark. Added to this are her powerful voice and an expressive stage presence.
Her songs often tell of love, longing, and separation. Grand orchestral arrangements underscore the emotional melodies. Rather than following musical trends, Mathieu remained true to her chanson style.
