The new Imagine Dragons album "Loom" is here! The band from Las Vegas released their sixth studio album today.
"Loom" is the result of an intensive creative phase in which the band members got back together. According to frontman Dan Reynolds, the album was created differently to other Imagine Dragons albums. In the past, they had a lot of demo songs at the beginning of a studio recording session, which they then recorded. With the current album, they had a bunch of demos, which they then discarded and simply started with a blank sheet of paper.
The album contains nine new songs, including the previously released singles "Eyes Closed" and "Nice to Meet You". The band describes the album as a mixture of the tried and tested and the new, which should appeal to both long-time fans and new listeners. The album cover is particularly striking, showing two people against an unclear horizon - an image that reflects the album's thematic uncertainty. Dan Reynolds comments: "You can't really tell if it's a sunset or a sunrise, and there are two people in front of it who are kind of separated. That sums it up thematically when I hear it. Is this the beginning of something new or the end of something?". Loom is the first album since Reynolds divorced musician Aja Volkman.
With this album, Imagine Dragons show that even after years in the business, they can still reinvent themselves and surprise their fans. The band is launching a major North American tour to coincide with the release of "Loom". European fans will have to be patient. It is not yet clear if and when a tour in Europe with a stop in Switzerland is planned. Imagine Dragons last played in front of 40,000 fans in Switzerland in the summer of 2022. At that time, visitors raved about the incredible atmosphere in the Wankdorf Stadium.
To date, the band has sold over 74 million albums and achieved an impressive 160 billion streams. This makes them one of the best-selling artists in the world.
