Uriah Heep are bringing their long rock history back to Switzerland. Solothurn is on the tour schedule for November 15, 2026. The show is part of “The Magician’s Farewell” tour. The focus is on music that blends hard rock and progressive rock.
The British rock band Uriah Heep was founded in London in 1969. Their debut album, released in 1970, bore an unconventional title: “Very ’Eavy … Very ’Umble,” which blended heavy riffs with organ sounds. Later, the band significantly sharpened this contrast. Guitars, the Hammond organ, and harmonies became their trademark. “Gypsy” demonstrated this distinctive musical style early on. Their big breakthrough followed in 1972 with “Demons and Wizards.” “Easy Livin’” distilled the formula into a compact hit. “July Morning,” on the other hand, showcased the progressive, expansive side. “Lady in Black” also took on a long life of its own.
To this day, these songs define Uriah Heep’s musical framework. Hardness and melody are rarely at odds. Instead, both elements constantly work against and with each other. This is precisely what gave rise to the characteristic Heep sound.
The tour name sounds more definitive than it actually is. “The Magician’s Farewell” kicked off in February 2025 in Birmingham. The current leg of the tour will take the band across Europe in the fall of 2026. Solothurn is officially scheduled for November 15.
The tour is being billed as a farewell tour across many venues. However, this doesn’t automatically mean the end of new music. Even if Uriah Heep no longer goes on long tours, they will continue to produce music and will return to the stage for individual shows—including at festivals.
Guitarist Mick Box reveals in an interview that classics like “Easy Livin’” and “July Morning” will certainly be part of the setlist. But they’ll also present new songs and may even include a few previously unplayed tracks. If you don’t want to miss this setlist, be sure to come to the Kofmehl in Solothurn on November 15.
