From May 14 to 16, 2026, Fantasy Basel - The Swiss Comic Con will once again attract gaming, cosplay, film and comic fans to Messe Basel. This year, the diverse program will be expanded to include an international comic competition.
Attention film, game, comic and cosplay fans! It's finally time again. Fantasy Basel 2026 is just around the corner. From 14 to 16 May, fans of a wide range of genres will meet at Messe Basel to celebrate their love of films, series, anime, comics, gaming, cosplay and much more.
Fantasy Basel is one of the biggest pop culture events in Europe. Last year, the festival welcomed around 97,000 visitors. Covering an area of more than 100,000 square meters, it brings together different areas of pop culture to create a shared experience. The focus is on the community: encounters with artists, developers and international guests are just as much a part of it as panels and interactive formats.
In 2026, Fantasy Basel is specifically positioning itself as a platform for comic art. An international competition will be launched for the first time, initiated jointly with the Cartoonmuseum Basel, Basel Tourism and the Christoph Merian Foundation (CMS). The central theme of «Friendship« forms the framework for works submitted from all over the world. A five-member jury will select 20 comics to be awarded and honored.
Even before the event, the Mittlere Brücke will be transformed into a public gallery: from May 4 to 18, the selected comics will be presented on large-format banners. During Fantasy Basel, another presentation will follow on over 130 square meters of exhibition space.
