Ohlala 2026: Pop Art, Popcorn, and a Burning Log

22/09/2026 written by Christoph Soltmannowski

Paris has the “Crazy Horse,” Berlin has the “Wintergarten.” Zurich has Ohlala. Or, more precisely, Kloten. From October 15 to November 8, 2026, the big top will once again be set up in the Holberg parking lot. The new show is called “The Popcorn Party” and brings performers from over ten countries into the tent.

Comic-book aesthetics meet acrobatics

Ohlala has been Switzerland’s variety show for adults since 2011. Gregory Knie founded the show in Dübendorf; since 2022, it has been performing in Kloten, just a few minutes’ walk from Zurich Airport. The formula has remained the same: circus artistry, comedy, burlesque, and acrobatics under one big top, with admission for ages 16 and up.

In 2026, pop art will be added to the mix: garish neon colors, oversized comic book characters, and opulent costumes. Each act tells its own story—sometimes sensual, sometimes offbeat, sometimes daring. The music is performed live by a singer and a beatboxer.

Popcorn as a Concept

The creators explain the concept themselves: Popcorn stands for spectacular artistry, sensual performances, crazy surprises, and music that sweeps you away. Each act is meant to pop like a kernel of corn in a hot pan. Anyone familiar with Ohlala knows: there’s skin on display here, but with style and a wink. That’s why the age limit is 16.

A Golden Buzzer and a Strongman from Mongolia

The Messoudi Brothers juggle. Sweet Darkness soar through the tent dome as a duo. Polinka from Ukraine does a handstand. Duo Alansia performs hand-to-hand acrobatics, and Duo Eros spins in the Cyr wheel. TV audiences know Sebas & Sonia from Spain from “America’s Got Talent”: In 2024, Simon Cowell pressed the Golden Buzzer for the aerial acrobatics duo after they fell during the live show but kept going anyway.

The evening’s feat of strength belongs to Tulga. The Mongolian strongman hoists a burning log onto his shoulders. He has already performed this act on “Britain’s Got Talent”; according to Ohlala, it’s the only one of its kind in the world. Ensemble members from France, Italy, and Australia—including Svetlana Orlova—dance to the performance. She has performed on stage at the “Paradis Latin” in Paris and worked for Louis Vuitton.

Dinner before the show, club afterward

On Fridays and Saturdays, the evening begins in a separate dining tent. “LoveBite” is the name of the three-course menu, featuring performances between courses—the producers call it the “prelude to the show.” After the performance, the Chapiteau transforms into a club on these two evenings. The after-show party is included in the show ticket.

The show lasts about two and a half hours, including a 25-minute intermission. Doors open two and a half hours before the show starts. A free shuttle runs from Zurich Airport Station to the tent city; those arriving by car pay a five-franc parking fee. Payment on the premises is by card only.

Tickets

Performances begin on October 15, with the gala premiere following on October 21. The VIP package, starting at CHF 219, includes champagne, a finger food reception, a private lounge, parking, and coat check.
