The Swiss cult musical "Keep Cool" returns to the stage in 2026. After over 625 performances and more than half a million spectators in the 1990s, the play will celebrate its premiere in Zurich from October 6, 2026, followed by seasons in Basel and Lucerne.
The new production of "Keep Cool" brings the successful play into an updated form: Musically and in terms of content, the musical has been adapted to the zeitgeist and transferred from the world of the 90s to today's social media and casting show age. The central question "What's cool?" is renegotiated and generational boundaries are addressed. Boomers meet Gen Z, nostalgia meets trendy slang and classic stage motifs are combined with current social issues.
Established names from the Swiss entertainment scene have been engaged for the leading roles: Bastian Baker takes on the title role as Keep Cool, Viola Tami plays Claire, and Rob Spence embodies the producer Big Daddy. They are joined by Janin Anna Matt as Laura and Vivienne Denia Weber as Giorgia. Marco Rima, who played a key role in the original, is once again responsible for the art direction and script.
The story revolves around the eponymous Keep Cool, an up-and-coming artist who wavers between career drive and personal fulfillment. The plot has been modernized for the new edition and aims to satirically comment on the changes in the entertainment industry and social values.
