The live show "Thank you for the Music" brings the ABBA story to the stage as a musical.
Congratulations in the form of a video message: "From one pianist to another: Happy Birthday, Benny!" - This is how "Thank you for the Music" lead actor Robin Scott congratulates ABBA co-inventor Benny Andersson on his 70th birthday. Musician and songwriter Scott plays Benny in the hit show "Thank you for the Music - The ABBA Story as a Musical", which will bring the band's live performances back to life next year.
Perfect pop songs
"It's a privilege to be able to play the music of ABBA to so many people all over the world," emphasizes Robin Scott alias Benny. "'Dancing Queen' is probably the most perfect pop song ever written. One of the very few songs that is guaranteed to fill any dance floor." About the musician and composer Andersson, he says: "Benny's way of making music is an interesting mix of folk, classical and pop and his piano playing is much more complicated than it seems at first. The longevity of ABBA's success is proof of the quality of the music and ABBA is in the best company with bands like the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. Benny and Björn also had the ability to really rock out on stage. I tried to bring this element into our show and Benny made me a better musician."
Musical in German
The musical "Thank you for the Music" tells the Abba story in German. It also features projected videos and over 25 original songs performed live by the band. Viewers not only learn more about the band's foundation almost 45 years ago, but also about their first successes. It also discusses why Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog broke up and why they refused to perform live in later years.
