They are virtuoso drummers, throw drumsticks through the air and use them as Basel piccolos: the young drummers of the "Top Secret Drum Corps" from Basel, who are bankers, painters and insurance agents in their real lives, are thrilling audiences around the world with their outstanding skills and witty choreography. Their constant efforts have paid off: in May, the "Top Secret Drum Corps" will have the honor of performing a three-minute show on the Queen's 90th birthday in England. Feel the beat!
Jubilee show by the "Top Secret Jubilee Corps"
The performance for the Queen is the highlight before the Basel Tattoo 2016, where the corps is putting on a surprise show this year: "We are currently rehearsing a brand new program for the Tattoo," says the dedicated "Top Secret Drum Corps" leader and Basel Tattoo producer Erik Julliard. "Everything is new! The costumes, the choreography, the music. It will be a journey through the last 25 years, with playful elements." The corps will be joined for the occasion by various former members - around 50 in total - and the formation is being called the "Top Secret Jubilee Corps" precisely for this occasion. The music is played on the large, original Basel drums. "We now rehearse two to three times a week," says Erik Julliard. We laugh a lot and everyone stays much longer at rehearsals and is highly motivated."
