The 11th edition of the Basel Tattoo military music festival starts on Thursday. The rehearsals of the Japanese delegation alone whet the appetite for more.
Over 800 participants in this year's Basel Tattoo Festival are currently putting the finishing touches to their performances. This includes the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force Band from Tokyo, which will be supported by perfectly rehearsed choreographies from the Nippon Sport Science University Shudan-kodo Marching Team. A first look at the rehearsals in a hall at Messe Basel shows the perfection that the Japanese have mastered in terms of music and performance. The Marching Team moves apart and back together like a flock of birds. The program rehearsed exclusively for the Basel Tattoo requires the utmost concentration from everyone involved.
Other top bands from Asia, America, Europe and Africa will also make the latest edition of the Basel Tattoo an international event. For the first time, tickets can already be purchased for next year, although the ticket prices will remain unchanged in all categories for all events, according to producer Erik Julliard.
