Despite such heavy themes, the classic musical "Cabaret" strives for the greatest possible entertainment value: there is singing and dancing, flirting, loving and sexing for all it's worth: the outfits are daring, the costumes are adapted to the nightclub milieu and the champagne flows in streams, much to the delight of the kit-kat girls, gays and gays.

Whether it's Trump America, neo-Nazi currents or an increasingly sex and fun society, there's plenty of room for thought-provoking ideas. Ultimately, the interplay between wicked political satire, increasing intolerance and heightened fascism prevails in Dominik Flaschka's skillful production (including a human playing a sheepdog).
