Schenkenberg Opera works with star director del Monaco

Opera director Giancarlo del Monaco is an international shooting star who has been staging productions in all the world's major opera houses for 52 years. He has just staged Giuseppe Verdi's "Simon Boccanegra" at the New York Metropolitan Opera, with star singer Placido Domingo in the leading role. Now he is rehearsing Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Rigoletto" at the Schenkenberg Open-Air Festival in Aargau - a major coup for the Schenkenberg Festival.
We attended a rehearsal in the arena and were able to interview the spirited Italian in the impressive open-air arena on the banks of the Limmat.
The Schenkenberg Open-Air Festival under the direction of tenor Peter Bernhard is presenting Verdi's "Rigoletto" from August 11 - 27.
