The Swiss Music Awards will be presented for the eleventh time on February 9, 2018. It is now clear which artists are on the list of nominees and can hope to win one of the coveted concrete blocks. First and foremost: the young high-flyer Nemo.
A total of four nominations! This has never happened before in the history of the Swiss Music Awards. The young Swiss rapper Nemo (18) describes his four nominations as "funny, beautiful and crass". The Biel native is nominated in the categories "Best Male Solo Act", "Best Breaking Act", "Best Live Act" and "Best Hit". His chances are good: he already won the award for "Best Talent" last year.
Folk music is also very popular this year
With Gölä's "Urchig" and "Land ob de Wolke" by Jodlerklub Wiesenberg, two of the three nominated albums in the "Best Album" category are from folk music. No wonder: Beatrice Egli, Schluneggers Heimweh and Trauffer took home many awards last year. And a pop star is also nominated in an international category: Helene Fischer is up against Ed Sheeran and Rag'n'Bone Man in the "Best Solo Act International" category.
Hecht will also be performing alongside Die Toten Hosen
The fifth show act was also announced: The group Hecht, who have already won the "Best Live Act" award. They will be performing alongside the Toten Hosen, Veronica Fusaro, Trauffer and Adel Tawil at the Hallenstadion Zurich on February 9. Veronica Fusaro could hardly believe it when she was asked to do the show: "I was in the middle of my university exams and suddenly I got such great news. I didn't expect it at all," said the 20-year-old at the press conference announcing the nominees.
