The Dance: Switzerland in dance fever

28/02/2016 written by Nina Müller
Twelve of the world's best street dance crews competing against each other: This is what "The Dance" is offering Switzerland for the first time. Spectators should not only be amazed, but also dance and celebrate - with a clear conscience. That's why the organizers are offering a comprehensive program around the show.

Discover: Now, in the run-up to the show, the organizers want to discover the 16 best Swiss dance talents at events in shopping centers from Geneva to St. Gallen and from Basel to Chiasso. The winners will perform at "The Dance" as supporting acts for the top international crews. They can also look forward to a role in the latest video by Swiss soul singer Seven.

Learning: From April 23 to 30, twelve brilliant and world-renowned dancers and choreographers, who have already created choreographies for stars such as Michael Jackson and Beyoncé, will be passing on their dance skills to young and old as well as professional and amateur dancers. The workshops take place in the evenings in Zurich.

Dance: In 1984, he was the co-founder of the most important hip-hop label in music history: Russell Simmons produced records by now world-famous hip-hop artists such as LL Cool J, Run-DMC, Kurtis Blow and Beastie Boys with his New York-based company Def Jam Record. On "The Dance", Russell Simmons is the jury president of the dance battle. Other jury members are top Zurich model Angela Martini and professional dancers Betty Style, Storm, Salah and Burim Jusufi.

Celebrate: Renowned DJs Renegade (Switzerland) and Yugson Hawks (France) will provide the dance competition with the right cool live beats. And where people dance, parties are never far away: on April 29, there will be a lively pre-party at Zurich's Club Flamingo, where the event's biggest stars will be in attendance. The after-show party on April 30 will then take place at the Hotel Kameha Grand near the Hallenstadion.

Helping out: All of this will also serve a good cause, as half of the proceeds from the raffle will go to the "Hip Hop 4 Hope" foundation. This charitable organization tries to reduce street violence in Manila through street dance.

From the street to the stage: the street dance show "The Dance" comes to Zurich's Hallenstadion.
