The musical "Wicked" has been playing in Zurich since mid-November. We met the lead actress Amy Ross for a short video interview.
How nervous were you for your first "Wicked" performance?
Elphaba, who I play, is passionate and enthusiastic, so the role is good for nervousness. The adrenaline helps enormously with this role. I was a bit nervous, but not so nervous that it drove me crazy. It's more of a great feeling than a scary state.
Have you seen much of Zurich?
We've been in an intensive preparation phase so far, which is why we haven't gotten out much yet. But I can hardly wait to ride the cable car and visit the Christmas markets. Once we're more experienced in the show, we can really explore Switzerland. This is my first time in Switzerland, the people are really great.
What do you like most about "Wicked"?
I love the music. It's beautiful. When we did our seat rehearsal and I heard the live vocals for the first time along with all the live instruments, I got goosebumps. It was incredible.
How long does it take you to turn green?
The painting itself doesn't take long. But I really like doing it. It helps me to get into character. I always feel completely different and transformed. I wouldn't wear it outside the theater, of course, but it's great for the show.
