This year you are giving three concerts in Switzerland - do you like it here?
Amy Macdonald: You have an incredibly attentive audience. The Swiss listen to every word. That's great. And they are down-to-earth and realistic. I always look forward to the end of a gig so that I can do this hand wave with the audience - this beautiful custom only exists in Switzerland. I particularly like it in Locarno, the many people in the square, at the windows, on the balconies - a wonderful atmosphere.
Why don't you move here with us?
That's funny: I was just joking this morning and wondering whether I would get a Swiss passport. If everyone goes crazy after Brexit, I could leave Scotland and move to Switzerland.
Why is your new album called "Under Stars"?
I was visiting my girlfriend in New York. And when I said goodbye at the airport, I thought of the title track. It's a message from me to her, from one side of the world to the other. I find it a comforting thought that all people are different, but live on the same planet under the same sky.
You released your first album when you were twenty. What is different now, ten years later?
Everything! My job is really extraordinary. It's a dream come true for me. Personally, however, I haven't changed much. I still live in the same part of Glasgow, have the same friends I went to school with, so I'm still very much the same.
"Many artists who spend months on the road in the USA lose their audience on this side of the ocean." - Amy Macdonald
You're not as well known in the USA as you are in Europe - when will you conquer the States?
I've never been on a big tour or promo dates in the USA. Many artists do everything they can to be successful in the USA. But I have so much support in Europe. So it wouldn't be right to spend all my time in the US and neglect and disappoint my fans in Europe. A lot of artists who spend months on the road in the US lose their audience on this side of the ocean.
You have a lot of tattoos.Do they have a special meaning for you?
No, I just like tattoos. They come from all over the world. My friends and I sometimes just go to a studio and get one done. I have one from Las Vegas, one from Berlin or New York. When I'm out with my friends, it can just happen.
