Krokus album "Big Rocks": A hard rock firework display

27/01/2017 written by Sidonia Maurer und Mohan Mani
"Big Rocks" by Krokus is our album of the week. We spoke to Krokus frontman Chris von Rohr about it.

"The fans will sense that this is an affair of the heart," enthuses Chris von Rohr. "They can expect hard rock fireworks from the 13 songs". Recommended tracks are the songs "Rockin' in the Free World", "The House of the Rising Sun" and "Wild Thing". The Krokus classic "Back Seat Rock'n'Roll", which was first heard in 1980, was re-recorded by the band especially for this album. Thanks to modern studio equipment, the sound is much more engaging and dominant. The guitar solos in particular are less lengthy from today's perspective.

Many years of live music experience

In times when even Yello go on live concert tours, Krokus emphasize their many years of live music experience. Nevertheless, a lot has changed since the early days: "We used to put up posters ourselves to be able to greet at least a few people in the concert audience. Today we play in front of thousands of fans, but we never forget where we come from," von Rohr continues.

"Donald Trump's daughter is welcome"

Krokus' music has always been shaped by the "American way of life": "There is no Swiss band that has toured the USA more often than we have," boasts Chris von Rohr. And he adds: "What's more, more Krokus CDs have been sold in the USA than by any other Swiss band. That's why we wouldn't mind if Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka came to one of our concerts." He adds ironically: "After all, Krokus also has some fans among US girls." He will have to prove this from September 2017, when Krokus start their next US tour.
