But he wanted more rhythm in his life. So Manillio saved money and quit his job. His plan? First of all, finish the second album "Somewhere". Then move on. Several concerts followed. And after the concerts? See more. At some point, in between all the music-making and seeing more, Manillio made his breakthrough in Switzerland. He was nominated for the "Swiss Music Awards" and won the "Energy Music Award". The media attention and his audience grew. His third album "Kryptonit", released last year, also delivered the summer hit "Monbijou". This year saw the release of the deluxe version of his latest album with five new songs.
No music without inspiration, no money without music
With Manillio, everything seems so easy, so relaxed. Yet he is a perfectionist. He writes all the lyrics himself, dreams about the songs at night and is happy when the writing process is finished. His feeling for language runs in the family. His late father was a journalist. He was also the one who took the young Manuel Liniger to his first rap concert. An inspiration that continues to this day. In addition to hip-hop, bands such as Coldplay have also influenced the artist. His hobby is now his profession. "Before, music was an escape from everyday life," says Manillio. "Today it's my everyday life. And then of course there was the financial pressure. You really have to get used to that." Nevertheless, he has never regretted his move into self-employment. And neither have his fans.
They will soon be able to celebrate their Manillio at the "SLM Music and Sport Festival" in Uster ZH. Nine acts, including the band Karavann, will rock the Stadthofsaal for 15 hours.
