The music of the Flaming Lips sounds like the soundtrack to a drug trip. Perhaps this is precisely why a collaboration with Miley Cyrus came about.
She is known for her wild shows: the eccentric band from Oklahoma City uses numerous items in their stage show, such as inflatable balls with which the band members can move around the audience, and the Flaming Lips became famous precisely for these unusual effects: Fake blood, confetti, bouncing Santas or fireworks are all part of it. But the sound of the quirky troupe also brought them fame and glory: symphonic sounds with psychedelic guitar effects frame the hypnotic vocals of Wayne Coyne.
So it's no wonder that Miley Cyrus also wanted to work with the band. The American scandalous singer wrote and recorded her last album "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz" together with the Flaming Lips. The lead single "Dooo It" premiered in 2015 at the MTV Video Music Awards, which were also hosted by Cyrus.
Oczy Mlody", the Flaming Lips' fourteenth album, was released on January 13 of this year. In it, they rely on their usual psychedelic sounds, music that puts the listener in a trance. Fittingly, the band sings in the track "How??" "Legalize it, every drug right now". The world tour is currently underway and the band will also be playing in Switzerland at the end of January.
