On October 13, 2016, Mary J. Blige will start the "King + Queen of Hearts Tour" together with Maxwell at the Hallenstadion Zurich, and one week before the show she is already very excited - as she told us in a short telephone interview.
You will start your joint tour with Maxwell on Thursday. How excited are you?
Very excited! I can't really sleep because I can hardly wait to fly to Zurich. It's going to be great fun. We will send the audience home with happy faces. I'm also looking forward to Switzerland, it's beautiful. But there won't be much time left for sightseeing.
What can we expect?
Maxwell and I will be playing our greatest hits. We'll have a good time.
Why exactly are you going on tour with Maxwell?
We decided that a year ago. We've met several times and we think our work is great. That's why we informed our managers that we wanted to tour together. Now it's becoming a reality.
Will we also be hearing new music from you?
Yes, not much, but a lot. My new album will be called "Strength of a Woman" and I will also be singing the song of the same name and "Thick of it". A premiere!
"Strength of a Woman" is the title of your new album, so it's also about the strength of a woman. Is it about time that a woman became US President?
Absolutely. It's one of the greatest things I've ever seen. It takes a lot of strength to run for president as a woman. It's very male-dominated territory. And wow, Hillary is so strong!
What was the last concert you attended?
It was Rihanna's anti-tour. I love Rihanna, she's an incredible artist.
You have won nine Grammys. Do you have a special place for the awards?
In my living room (laughs). I have a shelf there, let's call it an award shelf, and that's where my awards are. But no display case or anything.
