The Ice Hockey World Championship in Denmark and Sweden came to an end yesterday with an exciting final in Stockholm. Unfortunately, from a Swiss perspective, as in 2024, with a defeat in the final. Nevertheless, we can be proud of our performance and the fourth silver medal in twelve years (2013, 2018, 2024 and 2025). But as the saying goes: after the World Cup is before the World Cup. The first ticket offers for the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland are already available from today.
Ticket sales for the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will be staggered. The Zurich and Fribourg venue, Zurich and Fribourg preliminary round and Zurich final round packages are now available. The official pre-sale start with the day packages will then begin in September 2025 - once the match schedule is known - before individual tickets are also available from February 2026.
The IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is returning to Switzerland after 17 years. The biggest annual winter sports event should have been held in Switzerland as early as 2020. However, the Covid-19 pandemic put a spanner in the works for Zurich and Lausanne. Now, five years later, the anticipation is all the greater. The ice hockey elite will meet in Zurich and Fribourg from May 15 to 31, 2026. In a total of 64 games, the 16 best national teams in the world will compete for the coveted world championship title in two state-of-the-art ice hockey arenas.
