On September 15, 2026, the action finally kicks off again. The National League and the Sky Swiss League will begin their new seasons. The National League will kick things off with a full round of games. The first game of the Sky Swiss League will then take place two days later.
The days are getting shorter again, and temperatures are dropping. So it’s high time for action to resume in Switzerland’s ice hockey arenas. The new schedule already features several intriguing matchups right from the start.
Seven games, 14 teams, one kickoff: The National League begins on Tuesday, September 15, with a full round of games. Reigning Swiss champion Fribourg-Gottéron will face EHC Biel on the road to open the season. Last year’s championship opponent, HC Davos, hosts the SCL Tigers. In addition, the program features a classic matchup right on the first night: the ZSC Lions take on SC Bern. The regular season will once again consist of 52 rounds and ends on March 1, 2027.

Two days later, the first puck will drop in the second-highest league as well. The GDT Bellinzona Snakes will open the season against EHC Basel. The following day will feature, among other games, a matchup between last year’s Swiss League champion, HC Sierre, and HC La Chaux-de-Fonds. Ten teams will compete in the Sky Swiss League in 2026–27. The first round will be spread across several matchdays. The actual first-round game between EHC Olten and EHC Arosa won’t take place until October 20. Of course, the teams will play matches before then.
