The J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad takes place in the Bernese Oberland at the end of July. Tennis fans can look forward to a top 10 player and the defending champion.
Fantastic mountain scenery, lush meadows and cozy chalets make the Swiss Open in Gstaad a special tennis tournament.
Despite the low ranking on the ATP Tour - the winner "only" receives 250 points for the world rankings - the organizers are always able to attract top players to the Saanenland. Last year's winner Feliciano Lopez (ATP 37), who is competing again this year, says: "It's a very special tournament with a great tradition. It's a unique place to play tennis." And David Goffin enthuses: "I love the tournament in Gstaad and am looking forward to it. The conditions suit me."
The 26-year-old Belgian David Goffin is the big attraction at the Swiss Open. Goffin is currently ranked 5th in the annual rankings and 10th in the world rankings. In his first appearance in Gstaad in 2015, he played his way into the final, but was defeated by Austrian shooting star Dominic Thiem.
In addition to Goffin and Lopez, other prominent names such as Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP, ATP 18) and Viktor Troicki (SER, ATP 38) have also confirmed their participation. And: the organizers hope to attract even more attractive players to the Swiss Open - including special flights from other tournament venues to Gstaad.
