Ronnie Wood, guitarist for the Rolling Stones for over five decades, will perform at the Volkshaus in Zurich on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Instead of the usual stadium setting, this will be an intimate concert—and his only one in Switzerland. Irish singer Imelda May will join him as a special guest.
When you say Ronnie Wood, you’re talking about rock history. At age 14, the Londoner picked up an electric guitar, soon played with the Birds, joined the Jeff Beck Group in 1967, and later formed the Faces with Rod Stewart (“Ooh La La,” “Stay With Me”). In 1975, a chance encounter with Mick Jagger led him to his dream job with the Rolling Stones. Wood has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. He is also, incidentally, a sought-after painter.
The concert is part of the full solo sets that Wood has been performing again for over 16 years. The tour celebrates the double album “Fearless: The Anthology 1965–1985), which celebrates six decades of his work and includes four new songs, such as the single “You’re So Fine.” “I’m looking forward to really going all out with my back catalog and a few new songs,” Wood announces.
Imelda May will be sharing the stage that evening. Born in 1974 in Dublin’s Liberties, the Irish singer is one of the most charismatic voices on the islands. Her sound blends neo-rockabilly, blues, and jazz. In 2009, her song “Love Tattoo” knocked Bruce Springsteen off the top of the Irish charts. May is a close friend and longtime collaborator of Wood’s: They’ve shared the stage on multiple occasions, such as at the 2023 Jeff Beck tribute at the Royal Albert Hall. Her soulful voice and his bluesy playing lend the intimate Volkshaus a warmth that would be hard to achieve on a large stadium stage.
