"Long live friendship" is the motto of Peter Maffay's (71) rock fairy tale "Tabaluga". He is performing the show in Switzerland for the first time in December.
Peter Maffay, what inspired you to create your stage program and album "Tabaluga - Long live friendship!"?
Peter Maffay: "Tabaluga" and my love of music have been an important part of me and my life for a long time. The central theme here is friendship. Friendship knows no language and transcends borders of all kinds.
What does friendship mean to you personally?
Friendship means giving and receiving. With children, friendship has another, different value: they see the world in an unbiased and unadulterated way and have true and deep friendships without ulterior motives. Tabaluga's message should go straight to the heart: There are few things more important in life than good friends.
How important do you think friendships are for children and young people?
"Everyone longs for a more wholesome world."
With the story "Long live friendship!" we are trying to show that even enemies can become friends, especially in today's world, which is characterized by discord and conflict. Everyone longs for a better world. Friendship and respectful coexistence are the values we want to convey to viewers.
What is the most important quality of a good friend?
A good friend understands you, trusts you and you can rely on them. With a good friend, you can be who you really are.
How did the collaboration with Gölä for your upcoming concert in Zurich come about?
We had a lot of fun together on the TV show "Happy Day". It rocked, so I really wanted to have Gölä at the first "Tabaluga" concert in Switzerland. There will be 180 performers, including well-known artists such as the German actors Heinz Hoenig and Uwe Ochsenknecht.
Are you planning a joint album with Gölä?
That would be the first song by Swiss singer Gölä in High German. Or I could try it in Swiss German - that could definitely be fun. But we haven't planned anything yet.
