That sounds very intense.
And that's the joy of acting! We get to put ourselves in someone else's shoes and let ourselves be taken to places we've never been. That can also mean delving into difficult, emotional subjects.
"West Side Story" is a true classic. Why is this play still so successful?
"I believe that this story will always be loved."
I believe that this story will always be loved. The message is still incredibly relevant today and, unfortunately, I believe, in the future. We will always have difficulties with our fellow human beings, whether because of their gender, religion or sexual orientation. What I like about the story is that it shows how you can see a person for who they are as a human being.
You travel a lot for your job. What do you always take with you on the road?
To keep my voice healthy, I have a humidifier with me on the road, which I leave running at night so I don't wake up with a dry throat. And my e-reader.
You are visiting Basel and Zurich with "West Side Story". What connection do you have to Switzerland?
I've never been to Switzerland before, but I was delighted when I found out that we would be performing in Switzerland. I've often heard how beautiful it is here and I'm really looking forward to my stay.
