p>The English synth-pop band Depeche Mode is one of the most successful international music groups of all time. In Germany alone, the band has sold more than 6 million records and has won several music awards. Depeche Mode's acoustic trademark is their electro sound based on synthesizer and keyboard, accompanied by rocking electric guitar riffs.
The band Depeche Mode was founded in 1980. The founding members Vince Clarke, Andrew Fletcher and Martin Gore had previously played in the music group Composition Of Sound, but the band is only complete with singer Dave Gahan and the renaming to Depeche Mode.
Depeche Mode achieved their first major success with the song “Just Can't Get Enough” in 1981. Just one year later, the band completed their successful debut with the album “Speak & Spell”. After Vince Clarke left the band, Depeche Mode evolved musically towards their signature electro-pop sound, which can be heard on the album A Broken Frame.

In the 1980s, Depeche Mode's sound continued to develop. Their albums "Some Great Reward", "Black Celebration" and "Music For The Masses" catapulted the band high up in the German charts. To top their great success, Depeche Mode go on tour and play over 100 concerts. During this time, the band also made their big breakthrough in the USA.
In 1988, Depeche Mode were even allowed to play in front of a live audience in the GDR as one of the few western bands. The concert takes place in East Berlin's Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle in front of around 6,000 visitors.
Solo projects and comeback
The band also lives their minimalist, digital sound with the album "Exciter", released in 2001, before taking a break and the individual members devoting themselves to more or less successful solo projects.
A few years later, however, fans can hear about the comeback of Depeche Mode be happy. Numerous songs from the album "Playing The Angel", released in 2005, become number one hits. The band also rakes in several gold records and platinum awards. Depeche Mode are - once again - at the top!
Depeche Mode - a band like no other
After the release of "Playing The Angel" tickets for Depeche Mode shows are sold bestsellers worldwide. On the tour accompanying the album, Depeche Mode will play in a total of 31 countries in front of more than three million viewers.
After moving to Columbia Records, the album "Delta Machine" was released in 2013, for which the band gets their second echo. The successful producer James Ford, who has already worked with the Arctic Monkeys and Mumford & Sons, is involved in the 14th studio album, which bears the name "Spirit" and will be released in 2017.
The British music magazine Q refers Depeche Mode as "the most popular electronic band the world has ever seen". Depeche Mode and its fans can also look forward to being included in the list of "50 bands that changed the world".
